Tips n' Tricks are to provide my fellow clan, No Fear, with better ways of game play. Today's topic that will be discussed is the screen resolution in Warzone2100. Most of people think that Warzone2100's screen resolution is set at a maximum at 800X600 indirect Direct 3D or 3DFX. However NF-COWBOY has overcome this limitation that Pumpkin Studios sets on its customers. To correctly set up a higher resolution, higher than 800X600, for the Windows 98 operating system, you need to create another shortcut for Warzone2100. You can achieve this by doing the following: (for Direct 3D)

1. Click on start
2. Go to Programs
3. Go to Warzone2100 folder
4. Right click on "Warzone 2100 Direct3D (800x600)"
5. Then select Create Shortcut

By now you have two links named "Warzone 2100 Direct3D (800x600)" and "Warzone 2100 Direct3D (800x600) (2)" (see fig.1)

The next thing that needs to be done is to rename your second shortcut you made. This is can be done by right clicking on "Warzone2100 Direct3D (800X600) (2)" and then click on rename and rename your short cut to "Warzone2100 Direct3D (1024X768)"

Now it should look like the following:

Great! I hope you made it this far. Now for the trick that makes the program tick. Right click on "Warzone2100 Direct3d (1024x768)" and select Properties. Now you should get the properties window for the short cut. If you installed Warzone 2100 in its default directory it should read as follows:

Great! Now place the cursor in the target box and scroll all the way over in the target box you should see at the very end of the command line say something like " ...warzone.exe -d3d -800" change the 800 to 1024 then click apply (see FIG.4)

Now click ok. Run the game once by manually starting the game as you would but this time click on the "Warzone2100 Direct3D (1024X768)" short cut you made. Once the game realizes your video card can handle this, the game makes it the default resolution so the next time you play Warzone2100 on Mplayer it should work at that resolution. The advantage of doing this means you can have more of a viewable area, also meaning you can select more units with one sweep of the mouse. Have fun!
